Workplace discrimination is detrimental to everyone involved. It can narrow the talent pool, marginalize team members, and slowly chip away at a person’s sense of confidence, self-worth, and sense of belonging. Beyond that, it creates legal liability for companies and—possibly—for individual managers and employees.

Most people don’t “intend” to discriminate against others in the workplace. Even so, discrimination remains sadly common. So, how can you stop the cycle? It starts with awareness. Employers must know their obligations, and employees must know their rights.

In this micro course, you’ll learn about an employer’s obligation to create a discrimination-free workplace. We’ll lay out a timeline of the four primary workplace anti-discrimination laws in the United States, how a company can ensure they’re in compliance with those laws, and how employees can speak up and demand a discrimination-free work environment.
